Foster Families
Because every child deserves a family
"I want to go to the police station to see my mom and dad!" This was the last place a two year old foster girl saw her parents, and of course she thinks they are still there. Her heart breaking confusion is all too common among the children placed in our care.
On the bright side, children of all ages, rescued from sexual abuse, domestic violence, drugs and crime, are finding new families at CFLC. From drug-addicted newborns to runaway teens, these kids are welcomed into safe, caring, fun homes while their natural parents struggle through their own problems. They may be our kids for just a few weeks or many years. They may be reunited with a family member or they may eventually be adopted by their foster parents. Regardless, CFLC believes every child and every teen deserves a family every day.
Most of these kids arrive on our doorsteps with few clothes, behind in school, in need of medical and dental care, and counseling for a childhood of constant turmoil and trauma. Foster parents and CFLC social workers team up to address all these needs and show these kids that someone cares. Case loads for social workers are limited to just 15 to ensure personal attention to every child and foster parents receive initial and continuing education to earn and retain their certifications.
Through family outings, recreation, sports, camps, pets, books, music, church, theme parks and all of the taken-for-granted experiences of growing up, our children and teens learn what it’s like to be part of a real family. Our hope and goal is that every CFLC foster kid won’t feel like a foster kid and that someday they will know how to raise a family of their own.
CFLC provided emergency care & permanent homes to 240 children in Riverside County this year through our counseling & training centers in San Jacinto and Indio.
