CFLC KIDS GOOD NEWS TEXT Week of July 30, 2010

Greetings Everyone!

Camper to Camp Counselor! CFLC donors have made it possible for one of our 13 year old foster boys to attend a variety of different camps for the past several years, including the Calicinto Ranch, a working horse ranch in San Jacinto. This past week he got a chance to put all his camp experiences together and use them as a mentor and Camp Counselor for elementary school kids attending camp at Calicinto Ranch. Just one of the ways CFLC Kids give back or contribute to others. Way to Go!

Foster Boy Visits Pro-Football Training Camp!

While vacationing and visiting his foster parents family in North Carolina, one of our 12 year old foster boys got the treat of a life-time. His older foster brothers set up a visit to the North Carolina Panthers pre-season training, his favorite team, where he had the opportunity to meet many of his favorite players and get their autographs.

Summer Book Program for Pre-school Children! News of CFLC pre-school children participating in the summer book program at the Hemet library is creating quite a buzz among staff at our Preschool in a Box program. Several preschoolers are learning and sharpening their reading skills with the assistance of mentors at the library. Today, Curious George--tomorrow, The Grapes of Wrath!

Local Service Club Donation! The San Jacinto Elks Club donated $500.00 this week to CFLC's Kin Care Back to School school supplies drive. The much needed funding will provide pencils, pens, scissors, notebooks, paper and other important school supplies for our Kin Care children and teens. Thank you San Jacinto Elks Club!

CFLC Teen Passes Right of Passage Test! Missing only 3 questions, one of our 18 year old Youth Home girls, who will graduate from CFLC soon, passed her DMV written driving test this week and received her driving permit. Congratulations!

Summer Camp for CFLC Kids! Verdugo Pines Christian Camp in the pristine mountains of Wrightwood, California again hosted the annual West Valley Bible Church Extreme Experience Camp. Twenty-three CFLC teens and staff learned team building, environmental education and survival skills and participated in a variety of activities including; canoeing, archery, swimming, volleyball, basketball, crafts and much more. They also attended workshops, devotions and Bible studies and heard life changing messages from the camps ministry team. After being home for a few days one of our Youth Home boys was homesick for camp and commented saying, "I've been to church before but it was just talking. This time I could feel it. One of my roommates at CFLC didn't even believe in God before camp, now he is praying every night."

CFLC is working on a small soccer field, mini barn and raised garden beds for the boys at Valley House and Charlan Ranch. If you or you company would like to assist financially please contact Ozzie at (951) 765-6955 or by email at ozzie@cflckids.org.
