Royal Treatment! Crossroads Church in Temecula hosted a Royal Family Kids camp that 8 foster kids attended last week. They enjoyed the normal swimming, canoeing, woodworking, art, crafts, games and camp fires, but the things the kids told us, “really stood out”, were, “Breakfast Club, Evening Chapel, a Birthday Party, tea parties, crawdad fishing and making scrapbooks. One 7 year old girl showed her scrapbook to her social worker exclaiming, “I never had a picture album before. It is awesome!” They sat together going over each page for a long time.

Great Summer Days! Four youth home girls kicked off summer with swim lessons and House Mom Shauna reports, “They are enjoying their lessons and feeling confident enough to go in the pool.” Also, 4 girls are participating in a one hour aqua fit class and having a great time. One girl exclaimed, “It is so much fun and great way to stay in shape and beat the heat!” Several youth home boys and girls enjoyed a Storm game last week and there are daily opportunities for playing basketball, volleyball and softball at local recreation parks.

Job Training and Employment! One of our 21 year old job training participants recently completed the 12 week Youth Ecology Corp Program [YEC] that lead to employment at a local solar company. The program helps youth pursue careers in the water and related industries. He completed the YEC Employment Portfolio that includes the following classes; Customer Service, Dress for Success and Build a Resume. He also received his National Work Readiness Certificate that along with the classes above gave him the resume and experience necessary to secure the job. Congratulations and Best Wishes!
