California Family Life Center (CFLC) has been part of the Southern California community since 1982. We began with just a few group homes serving youth in need of safety and shelter and an office in a humble garage. Over the decades, we have continued to grow by listening to the needs of the communities we serve and finding new and innovative ways to respond (see Core Values).
Today, CFLC provides a safe place for children, youth, and families to heal, while creating opportunities and providing the tools they need to grow and build brighter futures. Our work includes Foster Care, STRTP homes with a Mental Health department (formerly group homes), Job Training and Education programs for youth, and Kin Care and other Family Services.
As CFLC has grown, so has our network of partnerships. For more than four decades, nonprofits, churches, schools, businesses, and government agencies have joined us in the shared work of strengthening communities. That commitment was recognized in 2024 when California Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh honored CFLC as a Nonprofit of the Year. We are proud of that recognition, and of the people who have helped shape CFLC from its humble beginnings into the organization it is today.

Our Mission
California Family Life Center's mission is to provide safety, comfort and healing to children suffering abuse and abandonment; to teach love and trust; to instill self-esteem, values and hope for the future - and in so doing, assist children trapped in hopelessness and despair become compassionate and contributing members of the community.
California Family Life Center has been awarded the highest level of accreditation by CARF International for its Foster Family and Kinship Care, Group Home Care, and Support and Facilitation programs.
CARF accreditation is a public seal of trust and commitment to quality based on internationally accepted standards. Achieving this accreditation demonstrates California Family Life Center's commitment to exceptional, personalized care. An organization receiving the highest level of CARF accreditation has undergone a detailed peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors, during an on-site visit, its commitment to providing programs and services of the highest quality.
