While CFLC celebrates all of our graduates, we would like to send a special shout out to one of our amazing Youth Home ladies who finished up 40 credits in less than 3 weeks! She completed all the requirements on Thursday at 1:30 pm and walked with her class and received her diploma at 6 pm! Fourteen of her family members were there to celebrate her accomplishments. Congratulations from your family here at CLFC too. We are so proud of you!!

This week CFLC celebrated witha few of our youth who had some wonderful experiences! One young man ran for his track meet and participated in the shot put event! Meanwhile, one of our young ladies enjoyed singing in her school choir and another received an award for Honor Roll! Often times we take for granted the simple pleasures we can bring to a child’s life, positive experiences in school with a supportive family can make all the difference to a child! Congratulations!

Three young men from our youth home were invited to attend a benefit dinner at the USS Midway Museum for a teen community service project! They were so excited for the opportunity to go on an aircraft carrier and they experienced the flight simulator as well! A day they will always remember! Thanks to Motiv which identifies, amplifies and connects high school students to meaningful volunteer service in San Diego.

The Boy’s homes recently participated in a photography contest in the Anza Borrego Springs desert documenting and learning about the “Super Bloom”. Each youth was given a disposable camera with 24 exposures and they set off to hunt wildflowers. One young man shared that he had “Never seen such coordination for the youth, things that keep me interested and thinking, I’ve learned so much about photography and nature!” We are thrilled to provide these wonderful engaging experiences for our youth! We can’t wait to see more pictures from the contest!

The girls from our youth homes are enjoying the spring weather outdoors with hiking trips. They recently went to Lytle Creek where they were “blown away by the beauty”. With all the recent rains, the waterfalls are running and one girl said it was “the most beautiful place she had ever seen”. They have also been taking local hikes and are enjoying the “beauty in my backyard”, as one youth put it!

CFLC has partnered with Worth Visual Arts’ A.R.T.E.R.Y. Program for 17 years bringing the healing components of art to our youth, providing mentorship opportunities, and offering an outlet for expression with themed projects. Once the projects are completed they are displayed in each of CFLC’s job training centers located in Hemet, Lake Elsinore, and Rubidoux. The current theme is RE-CYCLED focusing on creative thinking, journaling, the symbolism of the bike parts and the power of trash. An exhibit will be on display at Mt. San Jacinto Community College Art Gallery later this summer.

Last weekend 21 youth attended Leadership Camp at Calicinto Ranch. For 10 years CFLC has provided this camp to WIOA youth who exemplify the skills and the ability to push themselves and others in a positive direction. They work together to build ideas in a team setting and have come up with really inspiring ways to instill change their communities. Empower Youth, Planet Youth and Rubidoux Youth Opportunity Centers all came together for this adventure. Great friendships were made and everyone had an amazing weekend!

One of our Youth Home girls worked hard for 7 months to find herself and build a new path. She participated in workshops that taught her life skills, took Drivers Ed and passed her written exam, and even earned an award for acquiring high school credits so quickly. With CFLC she built friendships, made memories, and impacted the staff that was with her on this journey. She graduated the CFLC program this week and she is looking forward to reconnecting with her family. CFLC is celebrating with her and is proud to have been a part of her story! Good Luck!
